 About Angela:
I am a seasoned business professional with a background in the arts, as well. Though I continue on in the business world -- and actually hold seminars in my field and teach Tae Kwon Do (in which I'm a 2nd degree black belt) -- my kids have told me that I should tutor others on the academic level, because I have a penchant for taking things down to the basics and making them become more easily understandable. My biggest strengths have always been around communicating (which is why I make a good teacher), including the English language, grammar, and spelling -- I have more than 19 years experience in corporate marketing and communications, which obviously requires a high level of skill in this area! I've always been the backbone of friends and relatives for their editing and language needs; for example, when my sister was going to college for her PhD, I was her editor while she was working on her dissertation. On the other hand, algebra and other puzzle-type math is actually FUN to me; I use it a lot in day-to-day business, and when I'm on road trips, I actually tend to make up algebra-type problems in my head. Many today have become way too dependent on computers and calculators -- and it's funny to me when people are amazed that I can do some fairly complex math in my head. Remember -- it's a puzzle, just waiting for you to find the key! A third area of strength for me is music; it has been a large part of my life since I was very young. As a child/teenager, I spent 6 years taking flute AND piano lessons, went to performing arts camps and private lessons for both throughout that time, and participated and placed in many, many competitions, as well. Logistically, I graduated Summa Cum Laude (with a 3.98 GPA) with a B.S. in Management and Organizational Development, and I've been in the business world for 20 years -- the last two which have been as a small business owner. My children are in elementary and middle school, and they have relied heavily on me through the years to explain the basics to subjects discussed above when their teachers have "whizzed" through a subject! I'd love to help you in any of these areas! Remember, there are many great teachers who don't teach as a profession, but their strength is the ability to listen to the challenges of whatever "student" it is -- whether an actual student, a coworker, a child, or a friend -- and address them in a basic way that is easily understood by that person.

Learn More About Angela's Experience:
business
I worked in the international corporate marketing arena for more than 18 years in positions with increasing responsibility, leaving well after reaching a Director of Global Marketing position where I directed the marketing efforts of an international leader in the pharmaceutical development industry. Throughout the 18 years, I marketed in multiple industries: Wall Street, agriculture, high-tech, and pharmaceutical. In 2006, I left that world to start my own company and still do marketing consulting on the side. I not only have a strong command of marketing, but also how large corporations work.
flute
I played the flute (including taking private lessons) for well over 6 years when I was a child/teenager. I still have my old flute today! During my active period, I attended performing arts camp during summer breaks from school, and I also participated in state competitions in New York, as well as all-county and all-state bands (on top of band, orchestra, and marching band at different times in school). I could easily help someone with the basics through intermediate flute playing.
music theory
I played flute and piano for more than 6 years as a child/teen, participating in competition, bands, orchestras, and the like. I have also taught my children the basics in music theory, because I can read and write in both music clefs, from my keyboard experience.
proofreading
English language arts have always been a strong suit for me, and my career in corporate marketing and communications has further honed that expertise. I have often been an editorial resource, not only for friends and family (including my sister, who used me as her editor while writing her dissertation for her PhD), but also as the head of the marketing/communications departments under my purview.
