About James:

Hello, my name is James. I specialize in in computer programming tutoring. I am also able to tutor in math up to college level calculus, and I can generally tutor in any subject up to the high school level. To tell you a little bit about myself, my first tutoring experience was at age 16. I was hired to work in a special program which paid RCSD seniors to tutor K-12 students who were not doing quite as well in their studies. I graduated from Wilson high school in 1994 with a 4.1 GPA (taking AP classes allowed students to have a GPA above 4.0), and I will graduate from MCC in July with a degree in computer information systems. I have also earned college credits the from the University of Rochester, Western Kentucky University, and Louisiana Tech. After high school I wanted to attend Morris Brown University in Atlanta, but I was encouraged by my parents to attend U of R. I started U of R in fall of 1994 as a Mechanical Engineering major and attended until 1996. I couldn’t continue at that time because my family was unable to continue meeting the substantial financial obligation (over $25,000 annually) of attending the university. Between that time and my return to college in 2006 I enjoyed living and working in many different places (Georgia, Florida, Louisiana and Kentucky) and earned credits attending school part time while working. From 1999-2004 I worked for Frontier Telecommunications here in Rochester. I learned my first language (BASIC) at age six, and followed by taking classes in Pascal, SQL and C++ in school. The languages I feel I am strongest in are COBOL, Java and HTML. I have professional experience in web design as well, and I can provide examples of my work upon request.
