 About Elizabeth:
Hello! My name is Elizabeth and I am a sophomore at Georgetown University. I am originally from Florida, and am so excited to be here in Washington, DC. I graduated from a PK-12 independent secular school. I was the top girl in my class and won a variety of school honors.

I have had four years of tutoring experience.

My sophomore and junior year in high school, I tutored elementary and middle school students 15 hours a week in a wide array of subjects including reading skills, writing skills, math, history and simple science.

My senior year, I tutored and helped take care of a family about twenty-five hours a week. With one eleventh grade girl, two ninth grade boys, and one seventh grade girl, I definitely had my hands full, but I absolutely loved the friendships I made and most importantly the improvements I saw. I tutored this family in everything from FCAT practice, ACT and SAT prep, as well as helping them do their daily homework assignments. I not only ensure they all got every bit of their homework done, but made certain they understood the concepts as well as were correctly doing their assignments. With my help, the children also gained life-long study skills such as how to use flashcards to your advantage, why procrastination doesn’t work, as well as how to manage one’s time.

My freshman year at Georgetown I have been tutoring for the Wyzant system, and truly feel that this is a great system of tutors and administrators. The students I have tutored with Wyzant have really gained academic confidence as well as skills and knowledge to succeed in their classes.

As a full time student and club volleyball player, I am looking for a tutoring job of 1-15 hours a week. I am very flexible about timing as long as we can work around my class schedule, but most of my classes are when the kids would be in school anyways.

In high school I took a wide variety of classes including 8 AP classes which I received high scores. I am willing to help your student in subjects including math, literature, writing skills, sciences, and histories. I am also a Spanish student myself, so I can tutor lower Spanish levels.

My teaching style is very interactive, helping the student but never just telling them the answer. I prepare a lesson plan for every session. I often quiz students before tests, and help ensure they are using beneficial study skills. When a student has an assigned paper, I help them brainstorm and organize the paper and then after the paper is written proofread it and give helpful suggestions. My most important objective when tutoring is to ensure the student is academically improving and learning from our sessions.

I look forward to creating a valuable bond with your student, helping them both academically and by being an older role model.

Learn More About Elizabeth's Experience:
ACT
I have tremendous experience both taking the ACT and tutoring the ACT. In high school I took a prep class on the ACT, and many of my tutoring strategies derive from that. I received a 35 on every section as well as an 11 on the writing section, for a composite score of 35. This past year, I tutored 2 current tenth grade boys as well as an eleventh grade girl on the ACT. I am very familiar with numerous practice books, and how to teach while incorporating practice material. I also am very familiar with the logistics of the ACT, from the four separate sections, the no guessing penalty, the grading system, and the types of questions within each category. I hope to be able to tutor the ACT, if you have any more questions about my qualifications, please contact me. Thank you.
volleyball
I have been playing volleyball since I was 12. I played 4 years of varsity volleyball in high school as well as 2 years of AAU traveling club. I am now playing club volleyball at Georgetown. I have spent time teaching JV as well as middle school players, but my previous coach put a very important emphasis on coaching and technique. I learned many great techniques from him, and would love to pass them on and to be of help. I feel that I am both qualified to tutor volleyball and also have the personality to be a great coach. Thanks.
