About Alison:

I am a recent graduate of Boston College with a Masters degree in Math Education. I also have a bachelors degree in Mathematics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. In the past, I have had a variety of teaching and tutoring experiences in mathematics. I started tutoring by working with fellow students when I was in high school through my high school's service learning program. I also tutored fellow students in college through the learning assistance center on campus. For the past 6 summers, I have taught math and computer classes at a summer camp for middle school students. As part of my masters degree program I completed a semester of student teaching working with geometry and algebra 2 students at a high school in Boston. I also worked as a teaching assistant at Boston College for the mathematics department, where for two semesters I was responsible for my own section of a math class aimed at undergraduates who were preparing to teach elementary school. I have a fairly relaxed teaching style, and generally believe that the best way for students to become better at mathematics is to practice with assistance when they are having trouble.
