I have knowledge and experience in many areas of study. Music: I have been playing the piano for 16 years and am knowledgeable in jazz, pop, and classical styles. I have played the guitar for 6 years and have knowledge in pop and rock styles. With my extensive background in music, I have also learned the basics in saxophone, clarinet, trombone, trumpet, and voice. I am very well-rounded in my knowledge of music, historically, analytically and performance-wise.
I have spoken German for 8 years. Having learned it in college, I developed an interest in foreign-language learning while taking courses. My research as a graduate student was focused around German as a foreign language, and my 3 years of experience teaching German reflects current research and methodologies in the field of Second Language Learning. |

My experience with and knowledge of the piano is quite thorough. I have played the piano for almost 20 years now, 15 of which has been with formal training. The styles I have received training in and have performed include classical, popular, rock, blues, and jazz.
As an undergraduate in college, I receieved a music scholarship to study classical piano. After my first year, I transitioned to jazz piano and began taking formal lessons. I continued this through my undergraduate studies, during which I performed in 2 on-campus jazz bands as well as a student-led jazz ensemble. Jazz piano was my emphasis as I earned a minor in music.
Being a succesful both as a classical and jazz pianist, I have a very broad knoweldge of the piano and it stylistic nuances.
