My name is Angel, and I am originally from Chicago, IL. Currently, I am an undergraduate at George Washington University, where I am majoring in economics and minoring in journalism. My parents are from Spain and I am fluent in Spanish. From the 6th grade until the end of high school I studied French, and due to its similarity to Spanish, it was very easy for me to learn. I can read, write and speak both languages with accurate pronunciation.
In addition, I am quite experienced in writing. In high school I worked for the school paper, where I served as executive editor, front-page editor, and dining and film columnist. While there, I won a number of awards for my writing. In high school, I also volunteered at an afterschool tutoring service in Chicago's Hispanic Pilsen neighborhood.
When I came to college, I also worked as a tutor for a few months with BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life), a non-profit that runs after school programs in the Washington/Baltimore, New York, and Boston metropolitan areas. I was sent by BELL to work at Highland Elementary School, one of their sites in Wheaton, MD. Currently I am a reporter for GW's online newspaper, the Daily Colonial.
I am most experienced in tutoring children between the ages of 9-14, but I have worked with high schoolers (non-professionally) in the past, and friends often ask me to look over their assignments before they submit them. I am free every evening of the week (can be subject to change) and weekends until 5 pm.
