swimming
Hello,
My name is Amy, and I have been swimming for over 20 years.
I have competed on swimming teams from age 6 -- age 19. Throughout different teams, I have always been in the top few swimmers. I've done every event at one time or another.
Currently I compete in triathlons of all sizes.
I have worked as a swimming coach for my former Middle School in Michigan, where I was in charge of the beginner lanes. With this experience, I taught everything from the four strokes, to flip turns and diving starts.
I love teaching new skills to people, and it's fun to see people improve. I also believe that everyone should know how to swim.
Thank you,
Amy Sonnanstine
flute
Hello,
My name is Amy, and I have been playing the flute since 1990 (6th grade).
In all of the ensemble groups that I have played in, I have always won a position in the top 2 chairs. I have been in Band from Middle School through College; Orchestra in High School and College; and Flute Choir in College. In Flute Choir, I had the experience of also playing the Alto Flute and Bass Flute. In the “Solo and Ensemble” competitions, I always came out with a ranking of 1 for my solos (the highest ranking). I continue to play the flute all the time, and my proficiency remains as high as it was in school. I have played professionally with the Beechwood Theatre Company in Newport, RI.
I love working with people, and I have a lot of patience from years of teaching theatre, swimming, and French to people of varying ages. I think music is a great thing to be interested in (flute in particular of course), and I intend to help people along their way to mastering the instrument.
Thank you for your consideration,
Amy Sonnanstine
