About
Jacob: |
Hello There! My name is Jacob and I am a current undergraduate student at Duquesne University pursing a degree in Broadcast Journalism and Theater Arts. As a student at Duquesne in the Liberal Arts College, I have had classes in a wide range of subjects including history and writing, which makes me a well-rounded person to be able to tutor other students in many topics.
I have tutored in the past with the organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters for two years and currently tutoring an elderly woman to help her earn her GED. In addition, I have taught in elementary schools for three years with the programs Teens Agaist Tobacco Use and Applebee Pond. Moreover, I have experience teaching pre-school age children various topics.
Throughout high school, I had numerous AP classes, and earned a 4.3 GPA at the end of my high school career. In addition, I have gone through the whole SAT/ACT process recently, which would make me a good quality tutor because I know how the new tests are designed.
Furthermore, I have been involved in the theater business for 10 years. I have performed and studied at the Pittsburgh CLO, Pittsburgh Musical Theater, Indiana Players, Footlight Players, etc. I have also taken voice lessons for 10 years and piano lessons for 5 years and recently, I started directing and choreographing musicals in my area.
In conclusion, I hope you consider me while choosing a tutor. I feel I am hardworking and dedicated person with a good passion for helping others. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.

Jacob's Experience:
elementary (k-6th)
|
For two years, I tutored elementary students through the organization, Big Brothers Big Sisters. I gained experience tutoring students in every subject. I also had to provide documentation, progress reports and discuss a child’s progress with his or her parent at the end of each session.
I have taught many lessons inside classrooms through organizations. I gained information by seeing what method of teaching fits each age group.
My mom is an teacher and I am vinvolved in helping her prepare her classroom. She always informs me about what concepts fit each grade level.
Because of my mother and my experience tutoring and teaching elementary children, I feel I am up to date with what is happening in today’s schools, which would make me an asset as an elementary tutor.

GED
|
Currently, I am tutoring an elderly woman in a nursing home to earn her GED. I am teaching out of a Princeton Review Book and making up my own worksheets and notes. I feel since this is an immense challenge for me, I am capable of providing GED tutoring to anyone.
Moreover, as a recent graduate of high school, the subjects tested on the GED are very familiar to me and come very easily.
In conclusion, since I am currently tutoring someone to earn her GED and my familiarity with the GED subjects, I feel I would be a beneficial GED tutor.
