Hello! My name is Ashley, I am a native of Northern VA, but relocated to the Triangle about three years ago and I love it here! I have experience in both the business and academic worlds that can help me to assist a variety of people. With more than ten years in the corporate world, I have strong working knowledge of most of the MS Office suite. I am particularly proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint. I was often the in house guru for “how to” questions with these software applications. I am currently a full time student at Durham Tech, and am enjoying being back in the academic world. I have a 4.0 GPA and love subjects such as English, History and other Humanities (Woman’s Studies and Religion). I have started study groups for most of my classes; and many of my classmates have asked me for assistance. This helped me realize that I love to help people learn. Several people have suggested that I offer my services as a tutor, so I am really happy I found WyzAnt. I like to have fun while learning, so my teaching style is informal and friendly. Study Skills are very important tools for learning any subject. While we all know this to be true; it is also true that even the most valuable tools only work if you use them. It is vastly important to gather and use tools (study skills) that are the most functional and efficient for you as an individual. From highlighters to mnemonics, reading cues to flash cards, there is a combination of study skills that can help anyone learn. I have participated in creating training, providing training, study groups, and mentoring; and it is these skills that will help me to help others find their best tools to learn.
