 About Anthony:
I am not your typical tutor who simply comes to your home, shakes your hand, helps with homework and leaves smugly believing my job is done (and wait for that fat paycheck to come). There is a fundamental reason you need a tutor, it is because there is a gap or weakness in your knowledge. When I come into the picture, I find that gap and close it or strengthen that weakness. I promote independence from tutors and view myself as a temporary crutch rather than a permanent solution. The difference between myself and the others out there is simple, I am fully satisfied when a client tells me they no longer need my services because their child can do the homework on their own now and thank me for helping them get there.

Learn More About Anthony's Experience:
differential equations
My mathematics minor covered Differential Equations as well as Partial Differential Equations. Both were utilized in my advanced level courses such as Electrodynamic Theory and Quantum Theory. I have had a total of seven students in the past four years whom I have tutored in Differential Equations at the college and High School levels (students beyond Multi-Variable Calculus). The AP Calculus BC course which I also tutor touches on Differential Equations at a lower level in which they have derivative fields, implicit differentiation, Runge-Kutta method, etc. I utilize Differential Equations at work when dealing with wave propagation white papers and testing of the access point systems we manufacture for the US Military. I use Matlab and Maple to solve the more complex equations at work, which goes hand in hand with knowing how to solve them by hand in order to program an algorithm in both software suites.
statistics
I possess a mathematics minor as part of my Engineering Physics degree. Statistics was a major part of Quantum Theory in which I received a B. I also received an A in Statistics in college. I have tutored AP Statistics, college level Statistics and Business Decision Analysis which is based on Statistics. At work, I perform Mean Time To Failure analysis which uses Statistical analysis to determine the reliability of a product.
study skills
I have three books in my arsenal for teaching study skills: 1. The Study Skills Handbook (Palgrave Study Guides) 2. Super Study Skills (Scholastic Guides) 3. How to Improve Your Study Skills I have read all three books and have condensed the material into a paraphrased notebook which I share during lessons with students. During these lessons we first look at their organizational skills; are their assignments and notes in separate folders or strewn about in their backpacks? I go on from this to look at their note-taking skills; do they only write what is on the board or do they also note what is verbally stated? Do they read actively or passively? More questions are asked during progressive sessions to improve organization and note-taking. While working on improving note-taking I look at their study area. Do they have a dedicated study area or are they doing homework in the dining room with distractions? I work with parents towards fixing this. Once they have a dedicated study area, I make sure they make a list of homework needs such as pencils, calculator, paper, computer, rulers, etc. All these items must be in the area to save time and reduce distractions such as searching for something they need. Time management, planning, researching, picking reference books, effective internet searching, among other things are also part of my overall plan for improving study skills. I work from experience and books which has been a winning combination with past students who went from C students to A/B students.
