About
Annette: |
|
Greetings! I am a single mom with 4 teenagers, in my early 50s. I have had university education, seminary training, and currently have the privilege of working to see my 4 into the world on their own. I realize, though, that I have abilities I can share, in order to give back some of what I have been given.
While I don't have a professional teaching degree, I do have tutoring experience, and do remember how helpful even a small tip can be in opening a door in the mind...and how exciting it is when someone "gets it", be that a process of learning, a way to retain facts, whatever. Give me your best effort, and I'll give you mine! |

Annette's Experience:
Bible studies
|
I have been actively involved in Bible Study most of my 52 years of life. I went to Catholic School for 12 years, which had increasingly intensive study of Scripture passages and analysis. I was involved in Campus Ministry in college, and after college, entered The Salvation Army seminary for 2 years, part of which training involved internships
in church settings that demanded preaching multiple services per week, devotional preparation for multiple programs per week, development of youth program and materials from scratch that included Scripture study, personal devotional study and preparation, etc.

finance
|
I have not only worked as an admin for 7 financial advisors for almost 2 years, but have experience as a tax preparer with H&R Block for the last 4 years. I have experience in working with an estate, working with a budget, dealing with other matters as well.

general computer
|
For those who have no experience, I can serve as a basic tutor, having had to learn from scratch. I can teach the basics of Word, Excel, Outlook, the internet and other areas as well.
|
guitar
|
I have been playing the guitar since I was 16, and am now 52. I can teach basic theory on guitar,(strum and pick patterns), show chords and alternate fingering, and am learning now how to construct chords (via piano)in order to explain construction on guitar. I can also point out notes and change keys, with and without capo.

proofreading
|
If this has to do with formal symbolic proof reading, then I may not be qualified. If this has to do with re-reading for content, logic, spelling, usage, then I can most definitely say that I have much experience. My largest project in college was a 100 page paper, albeit with illustrations, but an upper-level undergraduate paper that was used by a fellow student as the basis for his doctoral dissertation.

religion
|
Having been born into a Roman Catholic family, I was exposed to the Catholic faith as an infant. I continued to practice this form of Christianity, finding a satisfaction in this particular faith.
In college, I developed friendships and worked with colleagues of different faiths, and studied those religions in order to deepen my relationships with them and underrstand their theologies as well. In seminary I also studied different faiths in depth, and was exposed to the need for dialogue in faith matters as well.
