Hello!
I am greatly interested in working with you as your tutor! I am qualified to teach a variety of disciplines, including literature, history, crafts, religion, art history, and languages.
During my time at Smith College I double-majored in Russian Culture and Russian Literature, and spent a semester abroad in St. Petersburg. In 2002, I received an MA in Slavic Languages and Literatures, where I furthered this study of Russian literature and history. My extensive knowledge of Russia, its literature, language, culture and history, qualify me to teach numerous classes that deal with these subjects.
My next MAR (Master of Arts in Religion) came from Yale’s Divinity School. There I studied religion, literature and art. In particular, I devoted my time to studying nineteenth-century American and British authors, Shakespeare, Milton, and contemporary literature by Toni Morrison, Graham Greene, and Lawrence Thornton. I took classes in apocalyptic art, Christian iconography, Latin American art and religion, as well as the Old Testament (a general overview), an exegesis of the Books of Job and Ecclesiastes, and Systematic Theology.
Currently, I have just completed my first year in a PhD program at Catholic University where I am studying Religion and Culture with a focus on literatue and the arts.
I worked as an extended assistant and a substitute teacher in Massachusetts prior to moving to Washington, and have done some SSAT tutoring in May and June of this year.
As far as teaching style, I do not believe every person learns in the same way. Therefore it is up to me to be flexible in my style and adapt to ways that work best for you. Regardless of your learning style (verbal, visual or kinesthetic) I believe learning can and should be fun!
I look forward to working with you!
