Hello potential student and/or parent!
First of all, you’ve already made a great choice by looking into helping yourself or your child succeed. There is nothing like a great tutor that can help turn everything around.
With that said, I myself am a recent graduate of The University of Texas at Austin where I graduated with a B.A. in the College of Liberal Arts with honors. My major was Spanish-Hispanic Studies and minor was French. My language skills, which include written and verbal fluency in both Spanish and French, are a tremendous asset that I use almost everyday in my daily life. When living abroad and in Texas, I tutored both children and adults in various languages. In our global world today, I am a huge believer in learning more than one language, as it teaches us about diverse cultures, and how to respect others even though they may not speak the same language or have the same beliefs.
I have travelled and studied extensively in Europe, and have a great knowledge of her history and that of the world. In addition, I love to read and keep abreast of current events around the world. Doing that involves a lot of daily reading, which I believe is an incredibly important habit to establish at any age.
Throughout high school and in college I was a notorious proofreader and editor of my friends’ and classmates’ essays, theses, articles, etc. You name it, I wanted to get out my trusty red pen and correct everything – grammar, sentence placement, punctuation, everything. However, I didn’t just correct things and hand them back; I would try to explain why I made the corrections that I did and what they should do in the future to avoid making the same mistakes.
I spent the time that I wasn’t studying out horseback riding at the local stables, a pastime I have enjoyed for over ten years. I was captain of The University of Texas Equestrian Team and helped coach many of our riders, especially the beginners, to win and place at local shows and in NCAA competition.
Each individual is unique – learning is no different. We all learn and absorb information in different ways, whether it is by visual stimulation, repetition, memorization, physical action, or a combination of everything. I am very excited to do everything that I can to help you or your child succeed. I look forward very much to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Sarah
