About Debra:

Experienced tutor, and current medical student, available for tutoring all ages kindergarten through college, in math and sciences. I offer test preparation tutoring for the MCAT, SAT and GRE. Also proficient in tutoring for english/reading courses for ages kindergarten through 12th grade.

I completed my undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in 2003, before moving on to pursue a degree in Medicine. I recently completed my second year of medical school, having completed all the basic science coursework, (anatomy, biochemistry/ genetics, physiology, histology, neuroscience, pharmacology, microbiology/immunology, pathology). I am currently completing rotations, which allows a flexible schedule for tutoring.

I have several years of experience as a private tutor, and I am a dedicated, enthusiastic, educated individual who looks forward to the opportunity to help students achieve their own personal academic success, and who are striving to outperform their peers. I also welcome the challenge of those students who have yet to realize their own potential and are seeking an encouraging mentor.

More On Debra's Subjects:

  • anatomy

As a medical student, I completed the anatomy course including twice weekly dissections of the entire human body. I am qualified to tutor any human anatomy course, and I also have training in radiographic anatomy including interpreting X-rays, CT scans, and MRI.

  • biochemistry

Biochemistry was an essential course in my premedical education, and I then went on to complete another year of medical biochemistry. It often is a difficult topic for students, but it permeates throughout many of my other medical training , especially pharmacology, and I have experience tutoring other students in this subject.

  • physiology

I have taken physiology courses in undergrad, as well as in medical school. I am qualified to tutor general physiology principles, such as Acid/Base, cellular receptors/signaling, as well as systems based physiology including but not limited to: Respiratory, Cardiac, GI, and Endocrine.

  • study skills

It is impossible to complete the first two years of medical school without developing several effective study techniques, as well as good study habits. I look forward to teaching these habits to future students I work with.
