You will learn to speak German from day one. You will learn language, not grammar. That does not mean grammar is taboo. It is merely one of many tools we will use to enhance your acquisition and fluency in German.
I was an assistant Professor of German at the United States Air Force Academy and have taught middle and high school German for the past nine years. I am certified to teach German in the state of New Hampshire. I have attended numerous language-teaching workshops and seminars including the John Rassias Method at Dartmouth College, Teaching Proficiency and Reading through Story Telling with Blaine Ray and the American Association of Teachers of German (AATG). I lived and worked in Germany as a civilian and as an officer in the Air Force. I was stationed at Sembach and Ramstein, Germany for eight years. I lived in German villages and interacted with Germans daily. I attended the Kaiserslautern Universität in Kaiserslautern, Germany and the 5-week long total immersion program at the Deutsche Sommerschule am Pazifik in Portland, Oregon. I have a Zertificat Deutsch als Fremdsprache and a Zeugnis Mittelstufen Prüfung from the Goethe Institut.
My philosophy of language learning has evolved from an analysis of my personal life-long learning quest and from my years of experience in the classroom implementing communicative teaching methodologies. My students learn to speak, read, write and understand German quickly. I won’t waste your time.
