About

After graduating from Schaumburg High School at the top of my class, I have gone on to a attend Augustana College in Illinois, where in May 2006 I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics and Biochemistry. I am currently a member of the 2008 Resident Class at the Academy for Urban Schooling Leadership, a program preparing me to teach high school math in Chicago Public Schools after obtaining a Masters of Art in Teaching degree and teacher certification. Besides being a successful and passionate student all through my education, I have always enjoyed sharing my excitement about learning with those around me. My knack for making concepts understandable to others, and willingness to always do so, has brought me much attention as a tutor through the years. At the request of friends, family, teachers, and professors, I have helped students from a range of age groups (elementary school through college) and in an equally large number of subjects. Though my highest achievement has been in the fields of math and science, I have always been a strong student elsewhere, one with effective study skills and unfaltering motivation. I have received much praise from the students I help, as I am a warm, approachable, patient, and encouraging individual. I am a young-at-heart girl who is fun to work with, but one who also knows how to work efficiently, accomplish a task, and control a situation. Some of my most enjoyable, educational, and rewarding experiences have stemmed from my activity as a tutor, and I am anxious for an opportunity to continue this trend. |

Sara's Experience:
biochemistry
I graduated with a Biochemistry Major from Augustana College. I performed well in all classes required for the major, those in the Biology in Chemistry Departments alike, allowing me to be among the top students in my upper-level Biochemistry classes. I received "A's" in these Biochemistry courses, gained lab experience, and consider myself well learned in the subject and a good resource for others.

discrete math
Discrete Math was the first class I enrolled in at Augustana College in the pursuit of my degree in Mathematics, and it was one of my favorites. I consistently performed at the top of my class, and even the more experienced college students would ask for my help. I received an "A" in the class, and later tutored other college students (from Augustana or elsewhere) in the subject. The principles and techniques I learned in the class gained much use through the rest of my undergraduate training, leaving me confident that I understand them well and can help others to do the same.
