curriculum vitae Elaine
I was born in Allentown Pennsylvania in November of 1950. On graduation from William Allen High School in 1969, I attended the University of Bridgeport in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where I was inducted into Kappa Delta Pi, an honor society in education. I received my Bachelor's Degree in June of 1972.
I taught for a year in the Allentown Public School system, then moved to New York City in 1973, where I enrolled in Columbia University. While attending classes in the teaching of remedial reading, I taught at the Fiedel Country Day School in Glen Cove, Long Island, and the Massapequa Public School system in 1974 and 1975 where I taught second and third grade language arts. I taught reading for grades 7-12 at the Baldwin School in New York City during the 1975-1976 school year. In 1976 I received my MA from Columbia and was then offered a full reading resource position in the Middletown Township Public Schools, where I taught from 1976 to 1978.
I was married in 1979. We moved to Los Angeles, California where we have run our own business and raised a family.
I have been employed by the Huntington Learning Center in Woodland Hills, California as a master teacher since June of 2005. I am now the lead teacher and have the distinction of being the most requested teacher at our center.
I am also currently employed at Casa Loma College School of Nursing & Allied Health, as a test prep.teacher.
I have also been tutoring privately for a select number of students, and most recently have had great success with ISEE test preparation.
