Literature and writing have always been passions of mine. I was an English major at Princeton University and I have been a professional journalist, published in The Kansas City Star, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The National Catholic Reporter and many other publications.
I taught journalism for five years at Notre Dame de Sion--essentially a workshop in writing for my students.
I am nearly finished with a masters in secondary English education from Rockhurst University.
I really enjoy working with students of all ages, especially middle school and older. I am compassionate and patient and the mother of three children; I have a lot of experience working with young people. I like giving loads of individual attention and having a warm relationship with students.
Because writing and reading have been so important to me, I want to share the knowledge I have with others. I believe in an individualized, differentiated curriculum with each child. I also understand accountability to parents and would welcome close communication with them.
I combine good training and professional credentials with a caring, patient personality.
