About
Nick: |
Hi, my name's Nick. I am twenty five years old, and have three years experience as a teacher and home tutor. I have a CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching) teaching certification from Cambridge University, through International House, and graduated from Concordia University in Montreal with an Honours degree with distinction in English Literature and Creative Writing.
I have experience teaching students of many different ages and abilities, from young children to adult professionals. I have taught in Poland, London, and Calgary, as well as Western New York. In addition to ESL, I have taught English for Academic Purposes to fluent and native English speakers. My specialities include reading comprehension, vocabulary building, essay writing, literary term comprehension, sentence structure, and test preparation. I have experience preparing students for proficiency exams, state and provincial diploma exams (such as the NY Regents Exams) and professional tests, such as the T.S.E. I am a published writer, and have a well-developed knowledge of English grammar.
Though I may look more like a musician than a teacher, I take my job very seriously, and am very professional. I enjoy teaching, and try to make my lessons not just educational, but as fun and enjoyable as possible. I expect my students to be motivated to learn, and to work hard.
I've just returned to the Western New York area, after teaching in Calgary and London for the past two years, and am looking for new students for the upcoming school year. |
