Hello everyone! So you love the Spanish language? So do I!
My name is Aref and I have near-native fluency in Spanish and have been surrounded by Spanish for my entire life; I am currently a high school junior and have been intensely studying Spanish from Venezuelan and Cuban teachers for the past 8 years.
I love teaching Spanish! My goal is to teach REAL-LIFE SPANISH, personalized to what you want to learn (see below for a list of base courses that can be individualized, or we can start from scratch). I use what I've learned from my experiences with Latinos in the US and living in Latin America to teach you the best Spanish I can. I love creating interactive lessons, using real-life materials such as music, movies, literatures, newspapers, magazines, etc. I do not teach "book Spanish." I teach idioms, slang and phrases that are being used in the Spanish speaking world every day.
In June 2007 I took the Educational Testing Service/College Board's SAT II Exam in Spanish, and I received a perfect score of 800. I recently spent three months in Chile (February 15 to May 15) studying at a Chilean school, further using my Spanish.
I can tutor at any level, from basic grammar (present, imperfect, preterit, future tenses) to the subjunctive tenses, to college-level studies.
For advanced students, I love teaching Spanish literature. Iberian and Latin American literature is very rewarding, and I have a large library of novels, short stories, plays, etc. that I can teach in tutoring sessions.
