elementary (k-6th) I am a retired elementary school teacher with a BS in elementary education specialization in math (GPA 3.75). I am certified to teach all K-6 subjects and math through 8th grade. My teaching experience of 15 years in grades 1-4 include extra certified hours in Saxon Phonics, Saxon Math and gifted/talented classes. grammar I am qualified to teach grammar. This subject was my favorite and the easiest of my college English classes. I am certified and have taught 15 years in all subjects in the elementary education field (including grammar). Additionally, I was an executive secretary prior to becoming a public school teacher and created, proofread, and edited correspondence for 9 years as secretary to hospital administration officers. music theory I am qualified to teach music theory in the area of piano. I completed five years of piano (theory and practical piano lessons) under a very accomplished piano instructor. Additionally, I have taught private piano lessons which included basic music theory. phonics I am qualified to teach phonics. I gave Saxon Phonics instruction for over 5 years in grades 1-2 with extra certification hours in this subject. This was my favorite class to teach. Saxon Phonics is fun and in teaching this subject, I became aware of the fact that all children can read if given basic phonics instruction early in preschool - 3rd grade. piano I would like to become certified in this subject because I have five years of piano instruction from an accredited paino instructor and have had some experience teaching practical piano including the areas of music theory. proofreading I am qualified to teach proofreading. This skill is very basic in preparing students for the Texas Education System TAKS tests, a skill that I taught in Grades 1-4 for 15 years. Additionally, I was a secretary prior to becoming a public school teacher and creating, proofreading and editing communication was a job skill frequently utilized during my years in this career field.
