I am an honors student having a keen perception in the math, sciences, history/geography as well as a wide array of knowledge in the computer fields. I am a well rounded person that likes to teach in a organizing, logical manner to benefit the student.
Math in general is a simple area for my habit. All problems require logic and organization in steps to solve, and that's one thing I can understand and execute, but also help others understand the process. To reinforce a concept in math, another approach to solving the problem rather than conventional methods can also help in grasping the concept that is being studied. For example, if a problem requires to do algebraic work, you solve that problem algebraically. Yet sometimes one may not know what exactly happened in the process of their work. In this case, a graphical approach helps to direct you into understanding how the problem is solved. Basically, what I mean by all of this is that there is more than one way to solve/check a problem to fit your needs, but there is always one solution no matter how it is solved, and that's where the subject of math becomes fun and interesting.
Science and math are quite related and mingle with each other often. However, science tends to be more on the factual and functional side to basically explain how things work. Nevertheless, good studying skills and fundamental understanding prove to be the best when it comes for an exam or test. I can reinforce topics in science such as chemistry or biology to correlate facts, figures, and problem solving into one factor. This approach has even gotten me into success outside of tests and homework. Last year, having been rewarded a 2nd Place at my high school, my science fair project acquired approval to the county science fair, and then received an Honorable Mention after judging.
History and geography seem quite easy after you understand the main ideas also. You can still take a logical approach to it as you can with math or science. I have even gone to the extent of earning college credit while in high school via AP courses and exams. I am knowledgeable in the facts and concepts of these two subjects as well as executing an explanation of a matter for a project or essay.
Also, I am in fond of computers and very familiar on how to utilize programs like Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Publisher etc. For example, whenever I have a project for school, I use an application like Powerpoint to develop and design my project for a neat presentation. I have also taken courses in these softwares to extend my knowledge even further learning its advanced functions. I can teach how to use and succeed in mastering just about every function of these softwares to the even the most novice user. I am also familiar with the computer infrastructure and interface, able to troubleshoot most common problems with your system. I also run and own a website, so I am quite familiar with coding such as HTML or Javascript.
Outside of the academics, I like to play strategic board games such as chess of which I am much an expert at and would love a challenge. Also, if one is interested in the gameplay I will be more than happy to give tutorials and/or tips. It is a great game to get your mind off of things or simply to have a break in the day.
As you can see, math, science, geography/history, and computers very much fascinates me and I have spent a lot of time in each area earning college credit and awards. Having an experienced, explanatory, prepared, and dedicated tutor proves to be satisfactory. |
