About Obinna:

I am an M.D./Ph.D. student at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine currently in the research/thesis phase. I have a year of research left before completing my thesis, which equates to masters degree status. My thesis project involves studying the regulation of hypoxia inducible factors (HIFs) in the aging rat brain. HIFs are special proteins that are important for cellular responses to low oxygen in the blood and bodily tissues. HIFs are also implicated in human pathophysiological conditions, such as stroke and cancer. I have years of teaching and tutoring experience in the areas of science and mathematics. Some of these previous and current experiences include teaching college courses (such as anatomy & physiology, physics, algebra), being a Princeton Review instructor in chemistry, and teaching a GED math course. I have also tutored many students over the years, ranging from grade school to middle-aged adults, in group and one-on-one settings. I am experienced at working with students of all proficiency levels. It is very gratifying for me to see the enhanced confidence that students gain and continue to foster in their subsequent educational paths.
