About

Dear Prospective customer, I would like to take this time to introduce myself to you. I am a certified teacher (k-8) with a Masters degree in Childhood education. I have been teaching for three years. Two years in first grade and one year in second grade. I believe every child can be successful and needs to be given the opportunity to succeed. As a child I struggled with reading and math. My parents scraped together the money to send me to tutors. According to my tutors, I performed better one-on-one, for some reason I was lost in the classroom, I was easily distracted. Some children learn better one-on-one. Please contact me if you're interested, I look forward to hearing from you.
Your tutor, Colette |

Colette's Experience:
phonics
|
As a first grade teacher, I focus on phonemic awareness, through daily word building, letter and sound recognition, differentiation between short/long vowel sounds, while targeting word families.

proofreading
|
One of the perks of being a teacher is teaching your students how to proofread their work. In the first grade it is very difficult, because the students will say "Iam finished" and I will turn around and say now proofread what you just wrote, and all I will hear is moaning and groaning. If you think you spelt a word wrong, circle it and look in your dictionary to see if you can find the correct spelling - remember to sound out the first two letters. Then, make sure you placed your period in the right place, and at the beginning of your sentence you have Capital letters.

study skills
|
As a teacher in the Clark County School District, We test our students from grades k-12 at the end of each trimester. Part of the preparation, is teaching study skills. They are different techniques to study. However, it is not how much time you've spent studying, but the quality. I hear students tell me I studied 3 hours for the spelling test, however, they have no clue as to what they studied. Then I have a student say well, I studied for 20 minutes and get 100%.
