About Robert

After completing my BA in Honors Biochemistry at Harvard University, I am currently researching diabetes-associated inflammation at the Vanderbilt Medical Center while applying to medical school.

I went to Cincinnati Country Day School, where I was president of the Cum Laude Society, as well as captain of the varsity soccer team.

I have won state-wide competitions in both French and Spanish, and studied abroad in France and Spain.

I was captain of my Cincinnati United Premier soccer team for 2 years in high school, and made the Varsity Squash team while at Harvard.

I am an experienced teacher and tutor; I worked with English as a Second Language programs for nearly 8 years. The majority of this work was one-on-one tutoring.

I will prepare structured lessons, based on the individual student's needs. I will review homework assignments and tests to identify and improve upon difficult concepts. My goal is not only to help students understand the material, but help them learn better study habits as well.

I am well-qualified, knowledgeable, patient, and reliable. I strive to provide a structured though friendly and comfortable learning atmosphere. Everyone learns differently, and so I adapt my teaching style to best fit the individual student. I find that often a couple hours of one-on-one teaching can be more productive than ten in the classroom. I look forward to helping you achieve your goals!

More On Robert's Subjects

  • biochemistry

I have completed the necessary courses for a Major in Honors Biochemistry at Harvard University. I also Scored a 37 on my MCAT, 13 in Biology/Orgo, 13 in Physics/Chemistry. I have taken many courses from microbiology to pure organic chemistry, and can teach about any subject therein. I also have three years of laboratory experience in this field. Furthermore, I have tutored a number of students in this subject area, and earned at least a B+ in each class, demonstrating a solid command of the necessary information and concepts. I also have access to many books and learning materials at no extra charge to the student that may be helpful, from my own lecture notes that I have saved, to videos of my own college lectures that are still available to me.

  • ESL/ESOL

I am fluent in French and Spanish, and a native English speaker. I am a certified tutor in both French and Spanish, and have studied abroad in both France and Spain. I have taught ESL through community service programs for almost 8 years, and so have substantial experience teaching English to non-native speakers.

  • MCAT

I got a 37 on my MCAT, and have helped numerous people study for theirs. I was also invited to teach an MCAT course by both Kaplan and Princeton Review.

  • soccer

I have played and coached soccer for 12 years at the highest levels. I was captain of my highschool soccer team, as well as captain of a top level club soccer team, Cincinnati United Premier. CUP is consistently one of the top 5 teams in Ohio South soccer. I have done much coaching at various levels, typically youth, but have a strong understanding of the game, and am well versed in the importance of technique and individual work. I have run camps, trained players on a one-on-one basis, and even refereed. Having had to quit competative play due to a knee injury, I can still get more than a thousand juggles!

Student Feedback

  • Accommodating and brilliant.

  • Enthusiatic & capable

-Definitely a capable/willing tutor that won't stop approaching concepts from different angles until he is confident the student understands. -Patient, eager to help. -Though obviously smart, he doesn't have an intimidating "aura of superiority" that would otherwise make it hard to learn. It is clear that his main goal is to help the student.
