About
Mary: |
You're looking for a tutor who's passionate about seeing you succeed. That's me! (More correctly, “That is I.”)
With 3 years of teaching an elementary classroom and 2 ½ years of writing for high-school students, I’m the tutor who can help you meet your academic goals. You won't find more commitment to your success than right here.
What sets me apart?
1) I'm an excellent learner. I earned a 4.0 throughout my MBA with no prior business training.
2) I’m currently a freelance writer—an entrepreneur using my best skills to make a living. This means my grammar skills are top-notch.
3) I have real-world experience in education, business, and marketing.
4) I’m an excellent communicator. I successfully work with both children and adults, even in difficult ESL situations.
In short, you’ll be delighted to hire me as your tutor!

Learn More About
Mary's Experience:
Bible studies
My dad is a minister of the Baptist faith, so I was raised to learn all about the Bible. Of course, I don't know everything, but I'm currently holding studies with a couple of foreigners who want to learn. I'm sure I could help you, too.
business
I have an MBA from Franklin University. I'm not an expert, by any stretch, but I do know a thing or two.
elementary (k-6th)
I was trained at Cedarville University to teach grades 1-8. I held a current teaching certificate until 2005. (At that time, my mom became ill, and I took care of her until she passed away. I let my certification lapse, as a result.)
general computer
As a freelancer writer, I work on the computer most of the day. I know all the things you'd need for "general" computer knowledge. I'm not an expert, but I'm familiar with Windows XP, Internet Explorer 7, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 12, and Adobe Acrobat Professional 7.
grammar
I'm a writer. Not all writers have excellent grammar, but I do! I held a full-time writing position at an educational publisher. My job as Lead Writer/Editor was to make sure that everyone's written grammar was excellent. I answered to the Vice President who was quite skilled in grammar, herself.
proofreading
I have an eye for detail. I just can't let the little things slide! When a period or comma is required, it had better be there. Seriously, as editor at an educational publisher, I was rarely "caught" by the proofreaders. My work was squeaky clean.
study skills
Although everyone studies differently, the skills I've picked up along the way might help you. As a writer, I know where the important points are in the text. Identifying the main ideas in what you're reading is one important step toward "studying" success.
