About
Cassandra: |
|
My name is Cassandra and I love to teach. From the age of 6, I knew that my heart's desire was to teach. I have followed this dream consistently throughout my 28 years on earth, working with and teaching children in a variety of settings.
Although the majority of my experience has been focused on elementary aged students, I have also worked with middle school students and specialize in middle school math and English.
I went to a private prep school in Santa Cruz country during my middle and high school years. After graduating, I continued on to San Jose State, where I received my BA in Liberal Studies. This degree focuses on learning how to become an elementary school teacher, and the majority of my coursework centered around learning how to teach a variety of subjects. This degree helped me to become a well-rounded, knowledgeable teacher.
I continued on to Bethany University, also in Santa Cruz county, where I earned my Master's in the Art of Teaching. My coursework focused on writing curriculum, child development and classroom management.
I am also a parent of two children, whom I stayed home with for the first five years of their lives. My parenting style is similar to my teaching style. I believe that the joy of learning comes from teaching materials from a variety of angles, using different methods, employing kinesthetic, oral, visual and tactile lessons. I am firm, believing strongly in "natural consequences" as a form of discipline, when appropriate and necessary.
I have worked a variety of jobs with children, from baby-sitting to being the Easter bunny at the mall (in college). Most notably and recently, I was employed by a large church in Santa Cruz county where I was the assistant director of children's ministries for the past eight years. I left this incredibly full-filling job to move with my family to Roseville, this past winter. In this field, I was responsible for writing Sunday school curriculum, organizing and encouraging volunteers, teaching Sunday school each weekend, for numerous church services and creating many videos and powerpoint presentations for the students.
Thank you so much for reading a little about me, and please feel free to contact me with any questions, concerns or comments. I would love the opportunity to meet you and your child(ren) and look forward to working with you in the future. I believe every child can be wonderful, amazing and successful. Please allow me to help them reach their potential in a fun, structured and positive environment! |

Bible studies
|
I am completely qualified to tutor students in Bible Studies. I have been a believer since my early childhood and have studied the Bible consistently from a young age. For 9 years of my adult life, I was the assistant director of children's ministries for a large church in my hometown. During this time, I wrote years' worth of Bible curriculum, based on a variety of Bible stories and lessons, geared towards elementary-aged students. I also lead a 5th grade bible study at my church for 5 years. I have taught Sunday school for over 12 years and am committed to teaching children of all ages about the wonders, love, amazement and grace that is portrayed in the Bible. I believe it is God's Holy word and is meant for us to enjoy, learn from and cherish.
