My name is Mark. I love working with students to help them discover creative ways to learn. Large schools and standardized tests can often cause students to feel like Pavlovian dogs (conditioned without really having learned anything). What I offer is what's most important at any level of education: one on one learning.
My specialty is English. I help students do close readings (focus on one or two passages) of stories and novels, so the material is less overwhelming. I read a lot of author biographies. To make the literature come alive, I like to give as much context to students as I possibly can.
