About
Sharon: |
|
I love to learn and I LOVE to pass my knowledge on to others - not just information that love of learning. My academic career started in sciences - Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, (first degree in Mathematics). I have also studied Bible, Hebrew and Greek to Masters level, as well as reaching fluency in French. Most recently I have been working in editing and teaching clear writing principles. Quite a mixture..... I am British by birth, have worked in West Africa and now live in Texas. In all parts of my career, I have found myself teaching, usually small groups or one-on-one. I work in Christian Education in my church, have been involved in Brownies, and have a personal enthusiasm for history, both Ancient and European, to supplement my other skills. |

Sharon's Experience:
Bible studies
|
Having been raised in a Christian family, I gained a sound factual knowledge of the Bible (as well as faith!!) from my youngest days. Since then I have completed two diplomas and a Masters in Biblical Studies, worked as a Bible Translator (in an interdenominational mission organisation) and as Senior Editor of a series of Bible Commentaries. I am currently training as a lay minister for my denomination. I have taught Sunday School for various ages, led Bible studies and currently serve as Christian Education liaison on the council of my local church.

Greek
|
I started my Greek studies at age 12. In the next 4 years (leading to the first level of national exams in the UK), I studied Classical Greek (grammar, translation, Homer, Ancient Greek history and mythology). Greek then became a hobby until I started preparing to work in Bible translation. During training, I studied New Testament Greek (receiving the Greek prize at my college). I further increased my competence during my Masters degree studies. As a Bible translator, I used Greek daily in the understanding of the passages to tranlate. I combine not only a solid understanding of the language itself (grammar, vocabulary, etc.) but a knowledge of the culture and milieu in which the language was spoken and the literature that is part of our heritage.
