Hello. My name's Katrina but I usually go by Kat. I graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 2005 with a dual B.A. degree in English Literature and Print Journalism. I am passionate about both, as well as learning, teaching and showing other's the beauty of a variety of subjects.
As a Journalism student, I studied a variety of subjects in order to become a more well-rounded individual and so I would be seasoned in many different areas of life. Some of these included traveling abroad, learning Italian, the power of Economics and the wonders of culture in Anthropology.
I current work in the media as a Multimedia Reporter for the Reno-Gazette Journal. In addition to shooting, editing and broadcasting video, I also publish photos and articles and continue to want to do more.
I am planning on returning to school in a year to pursue my Masters in English or Creative Writing. Writing is my first love and fiction is where my heart is.
I have always wanted to teach and usually find myself training others in skills I have acquired and use. I am a natural, with an abundance of patience. I find it highly effective to teach others, when I know exactly how they learn and in what ways they think and retain knowledge.
I look forward to lending my assistance to those who need it. Together, I believe, we can tackle any obstacle and project, with both of us learning as we go forward. |

I am thoroughly versed in computers, up to basic Web design. I understand how to teach basics, such as keyboarding, typing drills to improve speed and how-to navigate through a variety of different programs, easily and efficiently. From setting up resumes to learning how to type with both hands, basic computer is a skill everyone should learn and continue to improve.

proofreading

Proofreading is a necessity in both my degree fields and my occupation. I am constantly reading writing and proofreading for errors, for better flow, for correct grammar, strong verb use and effective writing. In my line of work on my company's Website, proofreading is essential and the difference between competent reporting and amateur.

video production

I have been working with video production for over 10 years, with a high emphasis over the last three years. I know how to teach the basics of a video camera, as well as common video etiquette, simple editing tools and formats and what makes a good video story. Additionally, I have used video production in both the studio and the live field and can teach interested students the fundamental differences between the two.
