  I will be graduating in 2009 with a degree in special education and I have already passed the state certification tests to teach K-12 as well as Exceptional Education.

• grammar

  Before I became a teacher and tutor, I spent 25 years as an administrative assistant and secretary, making sure that I was proficient in grammar and proofreading before I ever sent any documents out of our offices. Nothing makes a worse impression on your clients, customers and your professors than having them read a paper which is grammatically incorrect and not checked for errors. It can mean the difference between impressing an important client or getting a good grade on a project. I can help others learn the best ways to pay close attention to grammar and proofreading and learn valuable skills they can use throughout their lives.

• phonics

  I have had several classes in phonics and have gotten very good grades in this area. I will need this to help others when I begin a career as a speech and language pathologist, so of course I take this subject very seriously. In my opinion, I think it is the best way to teach reading, versus using sight words and memorization of vocabulary.

• proofreading

  I will be graduating next year with a Bachelors in Exceptional Education. I have a special place in my heart for children with special needs and would welcome the opportunity to tutor them in my subjects. I will be looking forward to a career in Speech and Language Pathology, so I am definitely interested in children who need someone with patience and understanding to help them learn.
