Amanda's Experience:
ESL/ESOL

I recently completed a 120-hour TEFL course. Teaching English as a Foreign Language and English as a Second Language are the same, except TEFL is taught in a country where English is not the first language. Having the TEFL certification, I feel completely qualified to teach ESL as well. The TEFL course gave me the skills needed to teach English grammar, lexis and pronunciation in the context of speaking, writing, reading and listening activities.

I completed a 120-hour TEFL course in Prague, Czech Republic and a large portion of the course was learning about and then learning to teach English grammar. In order to pass the course we had to complete two grammar presentations, each with a different grammar point assigned to us. We also had to complete a comprehensive grammar test in order to pass. Not only did I pass each of these tasks with distinction, but I passed the course and have distinction on my certificate. I also speak Spanish fluently and some French and Chinese, and learning foreign languages is extremely useful in helping to understand our own language and its grammatical structures.
