About
Kana: |
I moved to Minneapolis, MN in 2007. I have been working as a tutor for Japanese and taught English at one of the major English schools in Japan. Also, I have worked as a translator and an interpreter working for an international convention organizing company in Osaka.
I have lived in Seattle and NY as an exchange student. I am a certified Japanese chef by the Japanese Government, and I am also a certified Ikebana (flower arrangement) instructor. I enjoy tea ceremony as well. If you are very interested in Japanese pop culture like anime or manga, we can certainly read or watch together and pick up some expressions that are not taught in ordinary classrooms. I am now working as a medical interpreter as well as manga translator, so I hope we can coordinate time and enjoy Japanese and Japanese culture as a whole!! Looking forward to meeting you soon ;) |

I am Japanese and currently teaching at Japan Minnesota School as a teacher. I am bilingual and have lived in Japan for 28 years.
I am confident that I will be able to provide good lesson with clear instruction and as I am fluent in English especially for the beginner or intermediate level (students) find it so helpful to be given definitions in English as they have not yet familiar with grammatical terms in Japanese. Also, I was tutoring elementary, junior high, high school and business men, and even a doctor in Japan last ten years, so I am very confident that I can design appropriate lesson plans to help students dramatically improve their Japanese skills (reading, writing and speaking.
Also, I can talk about a variety of topics such as Japanese food, traditional & pop culture, customs, literature, and so on. I am a certified Japanese chef, ikebana (flower arrangement) instructor, and a certified English teacher.
In Japan, I do not have a Japanese teaching degree as my major was English, but I am confident I can meet clients(students) expectations.
I am currently working as a medical interpretor in Twin Cities metro area and Rochester to help Japanese patients. I am also working as a translator for manga.
