Hello! I am a language teacher with a breadth of experience who loves to help people learn new languages. I graduated from State University of New York at Albany with a B.A. degree in Spanish, English and Education. As an undergraduate,I spent a year as an exchange student at the University of Puerto Rico and have continued to travel often to destinations that include Spain, Mexico, Peru, Bolivia, Ecuador, Italy, England and France. I return yearly to Puerto Rico. For 25 years I taught Spanish at a highly regarded public high school in Massachusetts. As department chair there, I instituted Advanced Placement Spanish Language and taught it as well as beginning and intermediate Spanish. I have also taught English conversation, reading and writing to adult immigrants from Cambodia, China, Brazil, Colombia and Vietnam. I particularly enjoy teaching English to beginning language students. I always endeavor to implement lessons that are challenging, interesting and well-designed for the individual student's needs and objectives. My students have been very successful with their language learning. |

Teaching has been my profession for over 25 years. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and English and have spent most of my career teaching Spanish and tutoring beginning and intermediate ESL at a highly regarded public high school in Massachusetts. In addition, I have tutored ESL to teens and adults under the auspices of several literacy programs including one sponsored by a public library and another through a non-profit program designed to help immigrants secure entry-level jobs in the business world.
My approach is to evaluate the student's current ESL proficiency, ascertain the individual's goals and objectives and then design a program to help the student achieve her/his potential. I believe each student should be treated with dignity. I provide a positive, encouraging but challenging environment in which to learn, practice and progress. I believe that language learning should be dynamic and enjoyable as well as productive. I am competent to teach beginning, intermediate and advanced conversation, comprehension, reading and writing.
