I am a junior at the University of Michigan- Ann Arbor. I am currently in the Honors College at U of M. I’m pre-medical and am pursuing a major in Cell and Molecular Biology and a minor in Anthropology.
I graduated from Rochester Adams High School as Salutatorian of my class. I definitely understand the pressures that students go through, and I think that I have the confidence and knowledge to help them when it comes to understanding the math and sciences. I was an AP Scholar with Distinction, National Merit Scholarship Finalist, and placed in the 99th percentile for the ACT. I was also Math Student of the year for two years in a row and Biology student of the year my senior year of high school.
I started tutoring during high school, where I tutored in various subjects in the math and sciences. I have been tutoring for over three years. I have done personal tutoring as well as led study groups of up to 12 students. I recently worked for the University of Michigan Science Learning Center, where I led study groups for Ecology and Animal Physiology.
I am a very friendly and patient person (seeing as how I also have two younger siblings). I am a hard worker and am always dedicated to whatever job I’m doing. I’m confident, responsible, and I understand that it is my job to help the student succeed in whatever way I can.
My teaching style definitely revolves around the student. I usually focus on the student’s weaknesses, but I also try to cover everything else in that subject that I feel is important. However, I am very flexible, and I can change my style so that it best helps the student. After all, the most important thing is for the student to understand the concept and succeed in that subject.
