elementary (k-6th) I am a soon-to-be graduate from Pennsylvania State University with a B.S. in Elementary and Kindergarten Education. Regarded as one of the best colleges in the country, Penn State University prepared me well as a tutor and teacher for grades Kindergarten through 5th. I recently completed a student teaching semester in a second grade classroom where I was the lead teacher in all subjects: Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. I was able to maitain a 4.0 GPA my senior year and a 3.75 cumulative GPA. I also participated in one-on-one tutoring programs in State College, Pennsylvania where I tutored a 2nd and 5th Grader in all subjects. Upon graduation I will receive my Pennsylvania Instructional 1 Certifications. phonics Having the most experience working with Primary Grade students (K-2), I have grown very familiar with phonics strategies and learning to read strategies. In my student teaching semester I was able to observe and teach a Wilson's Phonics Program that involves sounding out letters and words as well as "tapping them out" with your fingers and "pulling" the sounds together. During reading I helped students to say a word by having them chunking the word, having them use context clues, look for smaller chunks or sounds in the words, and asking them, "what can I do to help me say that word?" tennis I am an athletic person who enjoys to play, and teach tennis. I played for four years on the Sparta High School tennis team and won two First Place medals at the Sussex County Interscholastic Festival. I have been teaching tennis lesson for six years now, doing both private and group lessons. At the Sparta Athletic Club I have taught beginner lessons to 3-8 year olds, and at the Cruiser Club in Byram I have taught private and group lessons for 3-14 year olds.
