About
Lindy: |

I have been playing piano since I was 12 and taught myself. I played for all choirs during middle school and high school, and played for all church choirs up until last year. I can sightread music like I can read english.
I really enjoy math and understand it well. I can teach without making it complicated. I like to teach in ways people can relate to the real world.
I also love sewing. I taught myself how to sew by hand as a teenager and made all my own formal dresses with my mom's machine. I can now make some things without patterns. My high school graduation present was a sewing machine that I love. |

I started piano lessons at age 12. I started with beginner, one-handed, two line songs. I excelled rapidly, and 2 years later was accompanying my middle school choir.
My piano teacher moved when I was 14, so I just kind of taught myself the rest. I was told by her before she moved that I needed to find a different teacher because she couldn't teach me any more. I was too advanced.
My skills improved as I continued accompanying the choirs in high school. I played during class for rehearsing and had to sight-read everything given to me. I can sight-read music almost as well as I can read english.
I am also good at feeling the soul of the music I play. All directors loved working with me because I can follow them and anticipate their directions. Working with choirs gave me a broad background of styles and genres of music. I believe that helps me play and express music even better.

I started sewing by hand when I was 11. My mom sews a little and I wanted to see if I could too. I made a whole formal dress for a dance when I was 14 without a sewing machine. It turned out beautifully. That's when I knew I had a gift. I convinced my mom to let me use her machine and started making all my own formal dresses, and prom dresses for friends. I also made clothes, mostly tops and skirts. For my high school graduation present, I got my very own sewing machine, and since then, my skills have improved even more. It's always ready to go at a moments notice. I still make clothes for myself, though usually I don't use patterns anymore unless I'm sewing for someone else. I also have made curtains for my home and quilts as gifts. I have used all brands of patterns and can use them with ease. If anyone can teach sewing, it's me.

I have been singing my whole life. My whole family sings. I joined choir in 5th grade, and sang in school until I graduated. I also sang in the community jazz ensemble in my city. My 10th, 11th, and 12th years of school, I was chosen to attend Music in May, which is a 3-day music conference with guest directors. The last day, students from all over the area sing together under the direction of a well-known director. It's an amazing experience. My junior year, I auditioned for All-State which was similar to Music in May, but you were selected by judges instead of your own directors. I made it. Roughly 200 students were allowed out of the whole state and I was the only one from my school chosen to go. My senior year, I auditioned for All-Northwest, which was like All-State, but 4 days instead of 3 and 300 students from 6 or 7 states. I auditioned and made it. I have many years of experience directing group rehearsals and was always put in charge of directing the class when a substitute was there. I have a very good ear and can hear very minor discrepencies in pitch. I can also direct singers to alter the way they're projecting their voice, thus improving the quality of tone, while keeping their individual sound in tact. I have worked with many world renowned directors and learned valuable techniques from them.
