elementary (k-6th) I began tutoring at the elementary while in college. I worked with an during school hours program with elementary age students, basically in general math and reading. I went on and became an ESL teacher, working in an elementary setting. During my career as an educator, In addition, I worked in an after-school program with ESL students and regular students in the buildings I was working in. As an ESL teacher, I worked in all subject areas in addition to survival skills because many of my students were newcomers to The United States, with some having limited or no schooling priior to entering our school. ESL/ESOL My travel experiences of possessing a very limited 2nd language background is what led me to become an ESL teacher. I performed this job for 28 years. My specialty was those brand new students who had just arrived speaking no or extremely limited English skills. These students are the most challenging, especially since I know enough to understand what they are going through. I taught elementary for the most part in a small group setting, K - 6th, worked with a Family program which included the parents and their children, and I also worked with adults. My students were from all over the world and spoke a multitude of languages. I truly enjoyed working with my students! grammar As a certified teacher possessing a valid teaching certificate and having taught ESL for the past 28 years, I taught English which includes grammar as a part of that field. In addition, I taught adults ESL in beginner-speakers and immediate level. Again, grammar is a part of that.
