grammar With both a Bachelor's and Master's Degree in English, I have had 18 years of academic training in grammar, writing, and reading. I have also worked as an Assistant Editor for two scholarly publishing houses in New York City for five years, a position that demanded expertise in all things grammatical. proofreading After earning my M.A. in English from Syracuse University, I worked for five years as an Assistant Editor for two major academic publishing houses in New York City. In that role, I proofread dozens of monographs as well as hundreds of catalog entries, jacket blurbs, and articles for scholarly periodicals. Much of what I proofread was, quite frankly, over my head: post-doctoral studies in astrophysics, microbiology, metallargy, semiotics, etc. But a skilled proofreader can proofread almost anything. I became so proficient that rival editors often hired me on a freelance basis to proofread the manuscripts their own staffs had already proofed!
