About
Bracken Juliette: |
|
I am a seasoned educator and am intimately familiar with the state standards. I've taught the gamut from elementary school (3rd and 4th grade), through middle school (language arts, course 2 math, course 3 math, and prealgebra), and even English composition and History at the collegiate level. I have had extensive training and have been able to successfully teach developmental reading, reading for information, research, formulaic writing, creative writing, and literature (popular canons). I enjoy teaching and enjoy teaching others to love learning! If given the opportunity, I am confident that I can guide you toward significant progress! |

Bracken Juliette's Experience:
GED
|
I have tutored through the local community college for the GED proficiency test, and an overwhelming number of my students have been successful--even those who have been out of school for more than five years and find the math and grammar portions difficult. Additionally, I currently teach middle school language arts, which means the language materials, which are the crux of the test, are fresh at all times. Finally, I pride myself on making complex materials plain and dedicating completely to helping students successfully see the test through to its end.

grammar
|
I have done extensive work through my graduate program with analytical grammar, advanced diagramming, and the history and structure of the English language. Moreover, I teach middle school language which allows me to daily refresh my knowledge of grammar and spelling rules and perfect my teaching strategies to make learning grammar fun! Grammar truly is the "math" of the writing, but it can be done--and done well by even the most fearful and inexperienced pupils!

study skills
|
I attended a 3-day professional development seminar through the Hill Center in Durham, NC just this year and obtained some really neat activities that go along with teaching study skills. I believe that studying is an individual art and doing so begins with identifying how you learn. Many people try other people's methods for studying but fail to personalize them. If you understand how you learn, you can better tailor any established method to meet your needs. My students this year have made tremendous improvement having gone through my mini-lessons on studying.
