About
Gail: |
|
It is a joy for me to work with motivated people of all ages and all walks of Life. When I see that AHA! look on a student's face, I get as much pleasure from it as the student does!
I have tutored high school and college level Spanish, and had fun doing so with both male and female students. I loved Spanish in high school, and earned my BA in Spanish at Rutgers Univ.
I became certified to teach English as a Second Language and it is so much FUN! I get the chance to be silly and act out what I want to help my students learn, and we laugh a great deal in my classes. It is so rewarding to see my students learn enough English to get their first jobs in America! They feel so empowered! |

Gail's Experience:
ESL/ESOL
|
For the past two years I have been teaching ESL as a contractor through a local English and Cross Cultural company. I have had numerous students, from many different countries and received excellent reviews from all of them. Through this company I have assisted executives in improving their English, and I have helped spouses learn English and become acclimated to life in the US.
I am also certified through a county non-profit adult education organization to teach ESL. Under a government grant program for nearly two years, I have taught beginner students from a variety of countries to communicate in English, thus helping them to find employment, and to function better in the US.

I earned my BA from Douglass College of Rutgers University. I have many years of experience as a substitute teacher, and English was one of the subjects I taught. I believe that earning my BA degree in Spanish helped me to better understand the grammar of my own language. I currently teach English grammar to foreign students as part of my ESL teaching.
My writing skills are excellent and I publish a newsletter almost weekly through my own business.
Proper grammar and English language usage have always been important values in my family of origin, and in my own home as I raised my children. I will be very happy to work with others to help them improve their grammar and word usage.

Student Reviews:
Great motivator!
Our son hated Spanish and did very poorly last school year. We hired Gail to help him out over the summer, and she exceeded our expectations. Not only was she knowledgeable about Spanish, but she was also able to help our son gain new confidence and believe in his ability to learn the subject.
It's still early in the new school year, but our son's Spanish teacher said she's impressed with his improved proficiency and attitude. Thanks, Gail!
