    I have been around the Arabic language for many years. In addition to classes many years ago, I have recently finished two intensives at UCLA: First and Second Year Modern Standard Arabic. After that I did two research trips to Egypt. During the first I picked up Arabic in daily life and during the second, I studied at the language institute, Kalimat. I am a very well qualified first year teacher in MSA and in beginning colloquial Egyptian Arabic. I have been teaching beginning Arabic through Community Services.

    I was a substitute teacher for K-6 elementary education for over 15 years. I have also taught after-school programs and had my own second grade classroom one year.

  • ESL/ESOL

    I have work unofficially with foreign students helping them with English pronunciation. In addition I worked for an ESL institute in the States as well as taught English at an Egyptian High School.

  • proofreading

    I have been an editor of a small magazine and was editor-in-chief of my college newspaper. Recently I have been proofreading the dissertations of fellow students before they are submitted.

    I am currently a PhD candidate in Religious Studies. My areas of expertise are women and gender issues in religion, Islamic studies and Goddess/Nature religions.
