Hi! My name is Allison and I am a current college student at Syracuse University who is minoring in Italian Language and Culture. I just returned from a semester studying abroad in Florence, Italy, and loved every minute of it learning the language (which despite my previous 3 years of study has helped me to become fluent) and exploring the vivacious culture. I am 21 years ols and am living in Boston for the summer before returning to school in late August to complete my last year. Extremely passionate about Italy and its culture, I am confident that I have the ability not only to enhance the basics of one's grammar, listening, and writing skills, but also to increase one's capacity of Italian conversation and comprehension, which is something that is not always taught or easily picked up inside the classroom. I think it is important to practice the skills of speaking and comprehending, as it is not something that books can teach you. I also think that many times people are intimidated to speak a foreign language as they are not confident in being current; however, as they say, practice makes perfect, and one will never succeed in something if they don't try to begin with. I believe hearing and practicing the language through basic conversation exercises can thoroughly increase one's understanding and appreciation for the beautiful language of Italian. I also strongly believe that foreign language study is an extremely important skill which expands a person's outlook on the world, as communicating with someone who does not speak your language is a very gratifying and unique experience which has the ability to open your eyes to other cultures. I am extremely passionate about Italian language and culture, and would love to teach others who are anxious to learn about it as well. I am very social, friendly, understanding, patient, and work very well with children of all ages. Contact me with any questions, or to start expanding your knowledge of Italian! |
