 About Robert:
I have been teaching for over 11 years. I hold a Bachelor's Degree from The University of Arizona, a Master's Degree from National-Louis University and a Master's Degree from The University of Phoenix. I hold a Standard Elementary Teaching Certificate (K-8)and I am fully endorsed in ESL(English as a Second language). I am someone who takes great pride in teaching students the right way. Being involved in Education for the past 11 years, I have learned to use many strategies that have been successful for me in the classroom. First, I think you need to be patient. I have found that working with students, whether it be whole group or small group, everybody learns at a different pace. You need to take into account the strengths and weakesses of students and tailor your learning to them. Second, I am a firm believer in teaching to the multiple intelligences. Most of my students are either visual or auditroy learners. Therefore, I have used technology on a daily basis to help increase retention of concepts. For example, I use short video clips everyday on concepts (Anticipatory Set) before getting into a lesson. This allows students to become familiar before we jump in to the material.

Learn More About Robert's Experience:
basketball
I began my basketball career as a student assistant coach at The University of Arizona for Legendary Coach Lute Olson. I received my first head coaching job at the age of 29 at The College of Lake County in Illinois. I have also scouted for two NBA teams on a per game basis.
elementary (k-6th)
I have been teaching K-8 for the past 11 years. I began teaching as an AIDE for LD/BD kids. Then, I taught PE/Health for 7th grade. After that, I taught one year of PE for grades 3-5. For the last 5 years, I have been teaching 3rd and 4th grade. I teach all of the subject areas and use technology everyday in the classroom. I try to use meaningful strategies for all learners. I have found that my students really enjoy when I use show video clips of subject areas before we get into a lesson. For example, we may be working on Fractions. I will show a clip for 2 minutes before we do the lesson. From there, the students are engaged and ready to start.
powerpoint
I have used PowerPoint for the last several years. Many of our classroom projects are done using PowerPoint. For example, we have done animal and weather research projects and menus. I let students explore all of the possibilities that PowerPoint offers. They like to use different fonts, clip art, and templates. I also use PowerPoint to show homework assignments in my classroom. The kids like the different colors and pictures (Animated clip art) that I use.
