To Whom It May Concern:
I am an eighth year educator who aspires to become an outstanding instructional leader by using my effective teaching skills, outstanding communication skills, upbeat personality, collaborative approach to reaching goals, attention to detail, and excellent organizational skills to make a positive impact on today’s youth. Currently, I am a peer facilitator at Genoa Elementary in Pasadena Independent School District. In addition to this, I have my Assistant Principal’s certification and my Master’s Degree in Mid Management.
For the past seven years, I have received PDAS ratings that exceed expectations in every domain. I have also been heavily involved in getting the community involved in the education process. This has included partnering with area businesses to obtain donations and to organize writing contests. The Greensheet in Education was also a program which I utilized to get out children more excited about writing. I have also gotten Junior Achievement involved in our classrooms, so that children who do not have knowledge of their community can obtain it through real life lessons. Finally, after collaborating with Champion Chemical, they have been very supportive of introducing our children to real life science applications by coming to our school and performing demonstrations for the third grade.
I believe that in order to get our children prepared for the Twenty First Century, we must provide them with the tools that they need to become successful. These tools are not only educational; they are also social skills that need to be obtained in order to be a productive member of society. Since social skills are sometimes neglected at home, I believe that character education is a vital component in ensuring that all children are successful.
I am a firm believer in positive rewards, both verbal and tangible. This is true not only for the children, but for the staff too. I often provide verbal praise, stickers, pencils, erasers, etc. for the students and I solicit gift cards from area restaurants to utilize as door prizes during staff meetings to let the staff know that they are truly appreciated.
As a peer facilitator, it is also my job to provide support for teachers who are in need of instructional assistance in their classroom. This is achieved by modeling lessons, providing feedback, and assisting with the integration of technology. Above all, it takes a positive attitude and a group effort to make a school (or any other business) successful.
