About

I currently work as a Chemist in a food-testing laboratory (we test for pesticides, antibiotics, and all the information on nutritional labels (fat, protein, vitamin a, etc)) and there's a full microbiological lab too. I just need a little extra cash to help out right now because with the economic downtown the meat industry is doing very very badly. I love my job so I just need a way to supplement it -- which is why I'm doing this.
I graduated from Morris Area High School in Minnesota in 1995. My senior year of high school I attended classes at the University of Minnesota at Morris instead of taking high school classes. I then took two years off before going back to school at Minneapolis Community College for two years, University of Minnesota Twin Cities for 1 (and hating it), taking one year off after the death of my father, and finally transferring to the University of Colorado at Boulder for two years. I graduated in 2003 with a degree in Chemistry, certified by the American Chemistry Society, with a minor in biochemistry.
I first worked as a temporary at Hauser, Inc. However, Hauser was a company going bankrupt and out of existence at the time so I only worked there the last sad terrible months. I then worked as a temp (same temp agency -- On Assignment Lab Support) for Davison Membrans until after 2.5 years I left since I was still a temp! I started my current job a year and a half ago at Guarantek Analytical which is owned by the same family that owns Maverick Ranch. As I said earlier, I love my job; it just doesn't pay me enough right now. After all this time, I still haven't gotten a raise even though I was rated a 26.5 out of 30 (27-30 being the "god" range). I know my chemistry, and while I do admit it may take a while for some things to come back (it's been 5 years since school -- no one's memory is perfect), I do know my stuff and I've applied it every day of my work career for years.
I've never tutored before in my life, but I have trained several people. Our job includes the needed math required in high school chemistry. I'm a laidback person, and I know that every person needs a slightly different method of learning. I did tutor a fellow student in General Chemistry, but she dropped the course eventually. |
