I have a BA from New York University (2006). I graduated with coursework in the pre-Med sciences (Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Math) and a major in Psychology (with a focus on learning and child development). I am currently working on a Master's Degree in the Biologicl Sciences.
I have tutored for several years, and my subjects include Chemistry, Biology, Math (mostly Algebra and Geometry, some Trigonometry), as well as writing skills, and college admissions (including SAT, ACT, AP and SAT II exams). I am a very hands-on tutor – I don’t like to just assign extra work. I like finding ways of engaging my students based on their interests, so that they enjoy themselves while they learn. I have had proven success in all the subjects mentioned above. I have worked with students in the Middle School, High School and College levels.
I prefer a tailored approach to tutoring. I know that one method does not work for all students, so I like to discuss with the student and parent what he/she needs before deciding on the method. I take on only a few students at a time, so that I can be available for them when I’m needed.
I am available to do regular tutoring (for example, we meet x times a week for a set amount of time and go over several subjects) or targeted (we meet before an especially challenging exam or paper). I am also available for general, sporadic tutoring. It all depends on the student’s needs.
I am very patient and love to help students excel in their studies. I take my job very seriously, and am reliable, personable, and very effective.
