About
Margaret: |
I had the privilege of staying home to raise my three sweet children and helping my husband establish a successful business before finishing college with a degree in Elementary Education. At Athens State University I received several scholarships, Highly Qualified certification, the Elementary Education Professional Dispositions Award and was graduated cum laude in 2005.
While I have been highly recommended by my principles after two years of teaching third grade, I would not say I have any special qualifications other than a distinct ability to connect with students.
My great parents ignited my love for learning; in the military we traveled a lot and I even got the opportunity to tutor for pay in high school. This led to my desire to teach and I am really in my element in the classroom, getting kids excited about learning and discovering new things. After teaching two years of third grade, I made the decision to stay home for a year after my folks moved here from Albuquerque. Now I find myself with several hours a week open for tutoring. Teaching brings me great joy, and I feel it is the gift God gave me with which to help others find meaning in the world.

I am a recent (2005) graduate of Athens State University in Athens, Alabama and have taught third grade for two years, one in public school and one in a private, Christian academy. I am licensed in Alabama and Tennessee and graduated cum laude with a special award for Elementary Education Professional Dispositions. My students' TCAAP and Stanford 9 scores were well above average.
In my 50 years I have traveled much and enjoyed raising my three children at home while assisting my husband in establishing a successful corporation. I have strong Christian values which have led to my involvement in church, school, sporting and social issues in the community where I have lived for twenty years and enjoyed a good reputation.
My favorite thing to do is to help children understand the world around them and gain competency in organization and instruction which prepare them for success in school and in life. I believe God made each child uniquely and that each one intrinsically loves to learn. While upper elementary/intermediate school age is my forte, I have well-rounded experience that would benefit every typical child of this age range.
