About Shana:

Currently, I teach 9th grade algebra at Monument High School in South Boston, Massachusetts, and am working towards a masters degree in Mathematics for Education at the Harvard Extension School. I plan to complete my degree requirements by Fall 2010.

I am certified in Massachusetts to teach both high school biology and math, grades 9-12, but have enjoyed teaching math more than biology. Many students are afraid of math, and it is a personal and professional goal of mine to make the subject accessible and interesting. Because Monument has a double block schedule of 110-minute math classes, I have had ample time to develop math projects and activities that make learning algebra more fun.
