About Etai:

I have had significant teaching experience in the past, specifically in ESL through the International Teaching Assistant Program at the University of Connecticut, where I worked for two years as an undergraduate assistant. I have also had the opportunity to substitute for the Hebrew instructor at the university on several occasions. It was these two experiences in combination with a great deal of private tutoring over the years, that has kept my passion for teaching going strong. My passion for teaching and making a difference in the lives of others is not showing any signs of extinguishing itself any time soon.

Passion alone however is not enough. One must be able to demonstrate the appropriate qualifications - put one’s money where one’s mouth is - as well. Having realized that rather early in life, I did everything I could academically to best prepare myself to pursue my life’s passion. That said, my degrees include a Master of Arts. in Comparative Literary and Cultural Studies and a Bachelor of Arts in German-Jewish History, both from the University of Connecticut Storrs campus. Combine my academic background with my work experience and my unquenchable thirst to make a difference in the world and I believe I am the perfect tutor for you.

More On Etai's Subjects:

  • Bible studies

Becoming a Rabbi has always been a goal and passion of mine. While I've had to put that on hold for the time being, Bible Studies and Religion have always held a central role in my life. Much of my undergraduate as well as a fair amount of my graduate work to date have centered around Bible Studies and religion. To that end, I have spent a year in the Ziegler school of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles. Combine my passion and academic background and I eel I am uniquely qualified to tutor in this subject.

  • ESL/ESOL

As indicated in my resume and profile, I have had several years of experience as an ESL Educator. It was my experience as an ESL educator that re-enforced and reawakened my passion for and confidence in my own ability to teach, particularly in one-on-one situations.

  • Hebrew

Hebrew is my mother tongue. As such and given my interest in Jewish Studies, the fact that I ended up taking all the Hebrew classes offered by the University of Connecticut should come as no surprise. Given my fluency and comfort level with the language, falling into the role of teaching assistant for the other students was extremely natural. Languages have always been my playground and this was simply another opportunity that I viewed in that light.

  • proofreading

As indicated both in my resume and profile, I have had several years of writing and editing experience. My mother began attending college when I was fifteen and that is when my "career" as an editor began. Proofreading is an essential part of that process. Indeed it is a part of the process that has very much become second nature to me.

  • religion

I have always felt most fascinated, comfortable and at home when studying religion. While it is true that my life's passion and goal has always been to become a Rabbi, I have always been intensely fascinated with other religious and spiritual paradigms. One of my clearest visions for my future Rabbinate is doing a lot of interfaith work. Such work is only possible through a lifelong exploration of other religious paradigms both formally and otherwise. I believe that my passion for exploring this particular subject along with the formal academic training I have had in this area will come across loud and clear in any tutoring encounter.
